Ramona Flowers (Scott Pilgrim) - Halloween 2012

Halloween 2012 I went as Romona Flowers from the comic book turned movie, Scott Pilgrim. I love her character and complying the costume from found items was pretty easy. The purse and goggles were a quick find on Amazon (I wrote eBay in the video for some reason) and the rest took less than a day to acquire (of find in my closet). The thing that took the most time was altering the wig (super cheap from a Halloween store.) It was a simple last minute costume that anyone can make themselves!

Jim dressed up as Carl Sagon, so we were a funny couple. Halloween night we went to Jim's families  house to hang out with his sisters and his cousin. I tried on his cousin's super tall heels, they matched my hair!

New Business Cards

I've had about three different versions of business cards before. Changing emails, urls, etc. throughout time deemed it necessary. This year I finally created some fresh new cards right before VidCon. I created two different designs, one for my blog and youtube and one for my etsy shop. I include a Nerdy Monsters card in every order I ship out. My MagicCatJenny cards are more for networking and making new IRL friends in the youtube/blog world. This year I ordered significantly less so when I run out I can update the design yet again! (and hopefully not the information this time!)

Engagement Party

Our engagement party was on the 13th of July (3 days after Jim's birthday) and it was really lovely. I was very nervous going into it, our extended families had never met. Jim comes from a large family who likes to party. It was at his parents house where beer kegs, buffets, and and unlocked front doors are common whenever something is being celebrated. My family, on the other hand, enjoy small get-togethers (there are not very many of us to begin with) where we open presents one at a time over tea and quiet conversation. Needless to say, 'family gatherings' mean different things to Jim and I. However the day went off without a hitch. Our families bonded and new friendships were made. Our unrelated friends kept to their own "cool kid" table but everyone had a good time. Jim and I have been together for so many years, so even if this day was to celebrate our love and our life together, it was also to celebrate our friends and families moving forward together as well. Amy Pond (Doctor Who) - Halloween 2011

October 2011 was the second month and meetup of CalNerdCon, so we decided to have a costume party picnic in honor of Halloween. You can read more about that meetup here. I went as Amy Pond from Doctor Who and I even drew tick marks on my hand throughout the day. (If you've seen the Amy Pond episodes, you'll get it.) Looking back at these pictures when CalNerdCon was so new and important is so crazy. I wish I had more time for it these days.
