How To Make Mickey Ears

Here's a simple tutorial for how to make your own DIY Mickey Ears!

Supplies Needed

  • headband
  • black felt
  • black craft foam (sticky back not required but saves time)
  • hot glue gun (*hot glue burns! don't use without adult supervision!*)
  • white crayon
  • cup
  • fabric scissors (regular scissors will work if you don't have fabric scissors)
  • any additional accessories/decorations you want
The first step is to cut a strip of your black felt long enough to cover the length of your headband.

Start hot glueing the felt to the outside of the headband.

Once you've gone all the way around you're ready to glue the sides and ends down as well.

Your headband should now look like this.

Then you need to cut two circles out of the craft foam. Use the white crayon to trace around the lip of a solo cup to get the shape.

Then to the same to the felt but for each ear, trace two circles about a half an inch apart and connect them with the crayon and cut them out.

This next step depends on the size of your headband. Place the foam circle on one side of the felt circle unit and line it up on your headband. You'll need to cut a straight edge on the foam that will rest on the headband.

Once you've got it the right size hot glue (or stick if your foam has a sticky end) the foam to one side of your felt unit.

Then, line the ears up on your headband to see where you want them to go. If you have a pair of ears from the park you can use them as a guideline.

One you know where you want them to go, hot glue the base of the felt unit to the inside of the headband and then hot glue the other side of the felt to the foam.

Ta-da! You just made Mickey ears!

You can also hot glue on a bow or fake flowers or anything to make them Minnie ears or whatever you want!

I made those flower ears on camera with imSarahSnitch, check out our video below!

Box Swap with Nerd Burger

Today I have something different to share with you, a box swap! What's a box swap, you find yourself asking? Well, it's when two friends at different sides of the globe decided to send each other presents. It's like a holiday gift exchanged mixed with a subscription box, but it's a one time and not necessarily during a holiday. So back in October, Cazz from Nerd Burger and I did a box swap! If you want to be surprised then watch the video right below but if you want to see images of the goodies she got me, keep scrolling for pictures! Also, be sure to check out Cazz's blog post and video! (And her Etsy shop, 'cause it's awesome!)

Project for Awesome 2014

This year Project for Awesome has come a bit early! P4A is usually held on December 17th & 18th, but this year it's happening today and tomorrow! For those of you who don't know, the YouTube community comes together to raise money for charities once a year, that's what P4A is all about. This year, for the fourth year in a row, I am supporting the charity organization, Heifer International.  Their mission statement is to 'work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the earth.'

Flipbook Jemima

Flipbook Jemima This Jemima makeup was  done on January 16th 2012. First makeup of the year. I had just got a new job and a new YouTube channel and I was missing CATS. So I dressed up in full costume for a few videos. The main video was called 'Flipbook Jemima' so that's what I'm calling this version of my favorite character. (I also noticed I do her makeup more than any other cat.) So enjoy the videos!Flipbook Jemima

Video Alonzo Makeup and Wig

AlonzoMakeupAndWig2 Back in 2010 I was commissioned by my friend Peter to make him an alonzo wig. (He's The Rum Tum Tugger here) I had never made a Cats wig before but I thought it would be a great learning experience if I ever wanted to make one for myself (still haven't). Here is the final product with some Alonzo makeup I threw on to model it. The makeup is Snazaroo (water based). Watch a reversed application of this makeup at the bottom of the post.
