New York City, April 2016
Jim and I started our journey on Thursday night. We drove together the 4 hours it takes from Maryland to NYC (our least favorite part is the tolls.) We got to stay with our lovely friends Tessa and Geoff in their apartment in Brooklyn. Our friend Vince few in from LA for the weekend as well. The evening was great catching up with friends, most of whom we hadn’t seen since our wedding last May.

On Friday, we spend the day exploring different parts of the city and just having a good time. We had a lovely breakfast at their place and then took the subway to Washington Square Park, the Flat Iron building, and then The Standard Biergarten for some sausages and giant beers. After that, we walked those off on The High Line. (a 1.45-mile-long linear park above the city) Then we all watched Point Break back at the apartment and took (much needed) naps. That evening we hung out at Hot Bird and then Soda Bar and met up with some other friends, Josh, Joe, and Kelly.

Saturday was an event. The morning was slow and relaxing, we got bagels and then walked to Prospect Park. After watching little kids play soccer and laying on the grass we found lunch at a great Viennese sandwich shop. (Portable mushroom baguette sandwich…oh how I miss you.) After that it was time for a different kind of adventure, Vince had scheduled hair appointments for me and him at 3pm. What? Ha! We got blow-outs at Dry Bar, it was a birthday present (and Vince also really likes getting blow-outs) I had never done it before but basically, it’s like a haircut minus the cut. Wash and style. And of course we had to do a photo shoot afterward, we’re such models. (Outfit post with more photos coming soon!)

Then we headed to MidTown to meet up with our friend Julie who was taking our 4th ticket. (We had to get them in a group of 4 from Ticketmaster, lucky it’s not hard to find people who want to see Hamilton!) She had never listened to the music before but know this was a once in a lifetime chance. (She loved it!) The show was amazing. I made a video about it and posted more photos here. I am so grateful that I got to have that experience. Thanks so much to Tessa and Geoff for the city tour and a roof over our heads. Thanks to Vince for flying out and for our hair adventure. Thanks to all our NYC friends for hanging out with us. And thanks most of all to my husband, Jim, for knowing how much for making the trip out to see Hamilton, it means so much to me.
