Happy Halloween!

Have you seen this girl with hair like this? Happy Halloween!! This year I'm dressed as Ramona Flowers from the comic series and now film, Scott Pilgrim.  The costume was super easy, I even filmed the creation of the wig and the full look in a video below.  What are you dressed as this year?

Tuber Tuesdays: Green Glow Drink

Hey everyone, it's the Tuesday before Halloween!
That mean's it's the perfect time for me you share with you a video I made about a Halloween themed drink.  It is called a Dark Eyed Beauty and is inspired by the musical Wicked.  Check out the video that my friend Vince helped me out with (thanks Vince!)  There are two versions of the drink and if you are under the legal drinking age where you live, make the virgin recipe please!

Tuber Tuesday: Accio Deathly Hallows in 60 Parts

There is a very popular Wizard Rock song (written right before the 7th book came out) by Hank Green called Accio Deathly Hallows.  It is so popular in fact that tons and tons of Harry Potter fans have covered the song on YouTube.  I put together 60 of these covers into one video.  It's currently my second most popular video. (Second only to LOL CATS)  Enjoy!

Viddy vs. Keek

I am all about online video and have many different YouTube channels.  YouTube is my main home but I thought why not explore the other video websites out there.  There are two that are quite similar yet have different features unique to them; Viddy and Keek.  I thought I'd try out both to see which one I liked more.  I have not made a decision yet but here is a video from each.  Let me know if you use either of these websites/mobile apps and which one is your favorite.

Vloggy

It's the second Nerdy Monster, Vloggy! I posted about the first, Specs, here. (I added more photos as well.)

Vloggy loves vlogs. (That's video blogs) She loves making them, watching, all of it. In fact, she's a nerd about just everything and anything YouTube related.

The Vloggy pictured is the first I've ever sewn of Vloggy and is currently for sale at Etsy.  She is one of 5 monsters with a delicately handsewn loop on her head.

I hope to eventually have a nerdy monster for any fandom you can think of.  Just be sure to let me know in the comments below what you'd like to see next. YouTube was the first fandom I chose because it is one of my favorite.

I will be posting about all the Nerdy Monsters as they are born, but if you want to be the first to know send me your email address and I'll add you to the mailing list!

ALSO! I made a video about Nerdy Monsters on my YouTube channel.  Click below to watch!

Tuber Tuesday: New New

Lets take a trip down memory lane, where things at the time seemed so new.  Back in January 2012 everything was new for me.  I was optimistic about my 25 Book Challenge. (A challenge that later proved to challenging in my oh so busy life.)  I had not started my 'wall of stuff' yet and the road ahead was unknown.  Join me by watching the short video below and together we can ponder the passing of time. (If you can't tell, I'm being silly.)

What were you doing in January that seemed so new and different at the time?

4 Simple Goals *before 2013: First Update

I bet you are all just itching to see how I'm doing on my 4 goals, am I right? No? Remember this post? Well today I'm going to let you all know how those are going.

1. Make my first Etsy sale. Not yet. I have two Nerdy Monster listed here and 0 sales. I have improved my SEO and have been participating in the Etsy Holiday Boot Camp.  I've made a few seller friends over on Etsy so hopefully this goal won't be a bust.

2. Exercise at least once a week. Yeah...this one has not been easy either.  I have done some exercise each week but not at all what I would like.  I eat right but after work I'm too tired to move my body around.  I bought a yoga mat and have been doing yoga from the internet every so often.  Sit ups are my go-to exercise when I want something fast.  Seriously though, I need to bring up me game.

3. Add to my Jellicle Drawing Project. Drawing is wonderful and relaxing and calming.  I NEED to do it.  I just have not yet.  I have been re-connecting with the Cats fan community and I even did Cats makeup with a friend last week.  I just have not drawn yet.  I won't let this goal fall through the cracks though, I will draw!

4. Organize and simplify. Finally, a goal I am satisfied with my progress so far. heh. Yesterday I went to Ikea with Jim and I bought a new desk!! It is shorter than my current desk so now my sewing table will fit in the bedroom next to it.  I set it up last night and that forced me to ORGANIZE.  I went through exactly half of my craft supplies.  I threw some stuff out, I'm going to give some stuff away, and the rest now has a designated spot!

I hope you all enjoy the update.  Now, go comment on my last blog about Lifestyle Blog Tropes, I need at least one person to give me their opinion =P
Thank you, you are all wonderful!

Lifestyle Blog Tropes

Whooo, lifestyle blogging! It's so not me.  I love reading them though and why not try out some of the tropes!  Here's a few ideas that I have not ever done but might... Which one do you want to see from me? Just leave a comment with which one you'd like to see me try out and I will.  No promises that it'll be a recurring theme, we'll see how I like it.

1.  Outfit of the Day
Sometimes known as 'What I Wore.' I'm a t-shirt and jeans girl most of the time, but on the ocasion I like to take some fashion risks for the fun of it.  I guess why I have not used this throp before is shyness...?  I'm no model and an entire blog post of photos of me 'modeling' my outfit seeems a bit...self centered? Not that I don't enjoy those posts from other people, I LOVE those posts. I just feel like I'd feel silly doing it.  Maybe I need to get over that.

2. Instagram
I've never really understood these posts.  I mean, if you like the person why don't you just follow them on Instagram?  I guess you don't always want to follow strangers.  I don't useally.  So this could be cool, might make me use Instagram more...heh.

3. Nails
This one would be bad.  I mean, sometimes I'm pretty good at doing my nails.  (They currently look awesome, as you can see below.) Most of the time, however, they are bare or chipped.  Nail painting takes a long time and I'm often bad at it.

4. Stuff I Love
Or 'Start Your Week Off' or simply 'Favorites' where you list photos and links of other blog posts and internet finds that you are into as of late.  It's a super easy way to get interesting images onto your blog and a nice free promotion for others.  The only worry with this I have is the 'legal issues.' I use Google Adwords and don't want to get in trouble for using someone else's intellectual property.  (The following example is from my cousins blog and I have permission.)

Let me know which is your favorite trope!

Tuber Tusdays: LOL CATS

When I mention to people that I am very much into YouTube, if they are not frequenters of the website they often assume all I do is sit and watch cat videos all day.  Not true! Sometimes I re-enact them with my friends.  Enjoy!

5 Day Green Smoothie Challenge

I have been a smoothie kick since I bought myself a blender last month.  After searching all over for recipes to try I decied to try the Green Smmothie Challenge from A Beautiful Mess.  Last week I made all 5 of their smoothies for breakfast and here are my reviews!

The first day I tried what turned out to be my favorite smoothie of the five. The blueberry and banana one!  (2 cups blueberries, 1/2 a banana, 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 cup of water)  I found out that blueberries and bananas together can mask any other flavor completely!

Day two I tried the pineapple and banana smoothie.  (1/2 a banana, 2 handfuls of spinach, 2 cups water) The taste was a tad off so I added some of the pinapple juice from the can.  Also I felt as if here was too much water. Next time I'm only using one cup.

Wednesday I opted to try the apple smoothie.  (2 apples (I used 2 granny smiths), 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup crushed ice) I was a bit apprehensive since it was just apples and spinach, but it was actually not bad.  The constancy was a bit odd but it really just tasted like apples.

The next day I attempted the Peach, Honey, and Oats smoothie.  I could not find oats so I used granola instead.  The smoothie pretty much tasted like liquid granola. Blah.  This smoothie was pretty much a fail due to incorrect ingredients. (1 1/2 cups sliced peaches, 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 tablespoon honey, 1/4 cup raw oats, 1 cup water)

Finally, on Friday I made the Raspberry and Coconut smoothie.  (1 cup raspberries, 1/3 cup coconut flakes, 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 cup water)  Ok, so this was almost another fail.  The only coconut flakes I could find were the sugary kind you use in baking. That combined with the raspberries were way too sweet.  Next time I'm using half the amount of coconut flakes. Yup.

Left over smoothie? Make smoothie freezer pops!

$20 off $50 on ModCloth! Through October 31st.

I know I know, everyone and their mom is blogging about this Modcloth offer.  Well, I fell victim as well.  I've never bought anything off of Modcloth before and since I have two weddings to attend this month and I've always wanted to buy something from that website.  Perfect opportunity.
So I'll make this breif.  IF you click the following link and you've never signed up for Modcloth before, you'll get $20 off a purchase of $50 or more.

I'm no fashion expert, in fact I'm really bad at fashion.  This world of blogging has really showed me that.  'What I Wore' posts?? I wear lots of t-shirts and jeans.  I'd like to be a bit more fashion...aware I guess.  Join me in this endeavor, save some money on a cute 'What I Wore' post worthy dress!

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP AND GET YOUR $20 OFF!

Here's what I bought!! I wanted just the dress but I need something extra to get it over $50 so I found this cute scarf (I won't wear them together obviously...I'm not that bad at fashion.)

Music: Wilco and Joanna Newsom at the Hollywood Bowl

Last night my boyfriend Jim and I saw Joanna Newsom and Wilco live at the Hollywood Bowl.  It was such an amazing experience I have to make a short blog post about it.  I've never seen Joanna Newsom live before and she is truly awe-inspiring.  We took the train and then walked from Hollywood and Highland so we were a bit late getting there.  We could hear her from the crowded walk to our seats.  Beautiful and enchanting.  Jim and I had brought wine, cheese, croissants, and salami to picnic with for the evening.  Wilco started and we were so glad we were there, they played songs off of almost all of their albums.  They played Jim's favorites and my favorites and more.  (My favorites being 'Shot in the Arm' and 'Heavy Metal Drummer')  We had seen Wilco together years ago in San Diego, however we were not together at the time and it was an awkward time for us.  I had no idea then that I would be seeing Wilco play years latter with Jim again and the experience would be almost opposite.  Seeing live music has always been one of my favorite things in the world, but doing that with someone I love; words can not describe.

About the photo:  Yes this was taken with my phone and is nearly pointless since you can not see the performers at all.  It's still a perspective from my night and an interesting capture. Joanna Newsom on the left, Wilco on the right.  The top is the lights that mark where the Hollywood sign is.  Not the greatest photos, but I like that I have them.
