The Rocky Horror Picture Show | Science Fiction Double Feature

We did it! All 11 films mentioned in the song Science Fiction Double Feature have been reviewed here on my blog and in video form on my YouTube channel!  Today is the final review and it's of The Rocky Horror Picture Show itself. However, rather than really reviewing the film (since it's obvous my feelings about it) I'm showing all of the outtakes and bloopers from the SFDF series.

Back in college, our theater program put on The Rocky Horror Show and everyone went to see it (most multiple times!) The audience came in costume at their Halloween performance and all of the audience participation that's done at screenings was done at the stage show. It was a blast! So when I told them at the Nuart that I was not a "RHPS virgin" I was not really lying. (Ok, I totally lied.) It was packed the night went though and even if I did go up to the front for the 'virgin sacrifice' I would not have had to much at all.
Here's my friend Kirstin and I, sort of kinda of dressed up for the night. (Next time we'll go more all out!)

Annnnd here's the outtake video and series finale! Be sure to let me know your favorite quote from Rocky Horror in the video comments! (Specifically, a quote from the character I'm dressed as.)

Kill the Batman - Joker (The Dark Night)

Kill the Batman
I'm kicking it up a notch with the creepy and sharing an old makeup adventure that's defiantly on the scary side. When 'The Dark Night' premiered back in 2008 I unfortunately could not go. So I did the next best thing; cosplayed as The Joker alone in my house. (Ok, I was chatting with friends online so I was not entirely alone.) The makeup came out really well for having used just the bad quality 'Halloween makeup' you can find at Party City or Target. I scared myself looking in the mirror and I can bet you sure my boyfriend dislikes this makeup even more than when I'm a cat.

Pumpkin Cat

Pumpkin Cat
Since it's only a few days till Halloween I am sharing a my Pumpkin Cat makeup design I created back in October 2008. She's made with Halloween cream make-up and my Mistoffelees wig. I did not wear her anywhere but I have a vague memory of video chatting with other CATS makeup fans.
(Before Skype, a bunch of us would get together online every so often and do makeup for fun.) This was the year I graduated from college and due to being way busy this is the only CATS themed makeup I did that year.

Extra Cosplay Photos!

Molotov Cocktease
Yesterday I searched some of my old photo folders and found some missing cosplay photos! These are from my Comic Con trip during summer of 2007. I still have quite a bit more photos to share from that trip (my Ariel costume for one!) but those will come later so stick around! Anyways, I've added these found photos to the costume posts for Wendla and Molotov which can be found in my costume archive that I am slowly completing. (7 years of costumes there so far, 6 more to go!) The above photos is when I met two random guys at the con who were dressed as Brock Samson and Dean Venture. (Characters from the show The Venture Brothers, where the Molotov character is from.) I also found some photos of my short lived Wendla costume from an earlier day during that con. Enjoy the photos!

When Worlds Collide | Science Fiction Double Feature

Today I'm reviewing the 1951 film, When Worlds Collide. Like many other films in this series, it was based on a novel. The sci-fi book of the same name was written in 1933. The film is a story about how a star named Bellus is discovered by scientists to be on a collision course with Earth. A shuttle is approved and a lottery set up to determine what few individuals get to escape to the planet Zyra, a planet in orbit around Bellus.

Overall it was a pretty good movie, albeit a but predictable at times. I rate it somewhere in the middle of all of the films in this series. This was the last official review all it's the 11th film. However, I am going to make a final Halloween episode and talk about the inspiration, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Look forward to that video and corresponding blog post, and until then, thank you for taking this strange journey with me.

Advertise on MagicCatJenny

As you may know, I recently switched over to Adproval for my sidebar advertising. It's been so easy to use and I really like it. I have three types of ad spaces available for November, feature, large, and small. I really hope you join me next month on MagicCatJenny, it's going to be great!

Each ad space is available for swap if you offer ad swaps on your blog. I'd prefer if you used the large or small but if the feature is open and you want it, go for it. (It might not always be available for swap.) If you'd rather advertise your shop or don't offer swaps, the prices are super affordable. No spot is over $7.

To purchase just head over to my advertising page. If ever a spot you want is taken you can still request it and it will go up when the current one expires.  Chose your size and then click "Apply for Ad Spot" if you'd like to pay or "Request Free Ad Swap." (Be sure to let me know how to place my ad on your blog if you want to swap.) If you don't have a banner ad let me know, I can make one for you!

Let me know if you have any questions! Go for it!

My YouTube History Parts 1 and 2

I have not been posting my videos on this blog as much as I used to so today I thought I'd share some history and some videos. I have been feeling a bit down about YouTube lately, so I thought I'd relive some of that first time bliss when YouTube was still a new place. Today I posted a video talking about my short films I used to make before YouTube existed. I mentioned the "production company" my friends and I started in high school, Magic World Productions. (I still use the magic cat logo to this day.) I'd love it so much if you watched it and commented.

Here's the first video about my YouTube history I made almost a year ago. It was not meant to be a series but I did title it 'Part 1' so naturally, someone wanted a 'Part 2'. You can tell by the difference in the two videos, made about a year apart, that my vlog style has changed. Not to say that unscripted laying on a bed is necessarily a bad way to make videos, but having some editing, graphics, and music really amps up the production value when you're in the mood for production value that is.

Thanks for watching!

Night of the Demon | Science Fiction Double Feature

Today I'm reviewing the 1957 film, Night of the Demon. It is a British film staring Dana Andrews, Peggy Cummins and Niall MacGinnis. It was directed by Jacques Tourneur and was based off of the M.R. James story "Casting the Runes" (1911). It is about an American psychologist, Dr. John Holden, who travels to England to investigate a satanic cult suspected for a series of murders.

What I really liked about the film was the consent butting of heads of science and magic. Witchcraft, runes, seances, predictions of death, and Stonehenge are a few of the sort of magic this film deals with. Oh, and there's a giant demon beast thing. Needless to say, I liked it!

Goodbye Passionfruit Ads, Hello Adproval

After reading The Importance of Being Reese's post about her switch to Adproval from Passionfruit, I was inspired to try it out as well.  Passionfruit Ads recently started charging their users a monthly fee to sell and swap ads (you can still purchase ads with your account.) I don't make very much money (if any) selling ads on my blog so the $9 a month would be a waste. The thing is I really enjoy swapping ads and meeting other bloggers and to have to pay Passionfruit for even just that defeats the purpose.

So if you check out my new advertising page, you'll see that there are now 3 ad spots I offer per month. Currently I'm trying one 200x200 spot, ten 100x200 spots, and twenty 100x100 spots. They are all fairly priced however I am offering the option to swap ANY of the sizes. So if you want to pay and not worry about placing my ad on your blog (works great for shops) then feel free, but if you want to swap ads for free that option is just as important to me. Let me know what you think!

Harry Potter Inspired Winged Key Necklaces

Harry Potter inspired Winged Key Necklac
In the first Harry Potter book Harry, Ron, and Hermione seek out the sorcerer's/philosopher's stone and they have to complete different challenges bellow Hogwarts to do so. Harry's first challenge involved flying on a broom to capture the correct flying key to open the next door. Recently I had the idea to make some cute 'flying key' necklaces for myself and a friend.
Harry Potter inspired Winged Key Necklac
Harry Potter inspired Winged Key Necklac Right now those are the only two I've made, but since I am thinking of re-opening my Esty shop I was wondering if this type of jewelry would be good to sell there. If you like them and think I should make some to sell, let me know by leaving a comment. I'm not sure how much they'd cost but not too much!

The Day of the Triffids | Science Fiction Double Feature

Today I'm reviewing the 1962 film, The Day of the Triffids. It's based on a science fiction novel by John Wyndham.'Triffids' are 'eating plants' and they eat people and animals. They invade earth via a meteor shower. The light from said meteor shower blinds the majority of people on earth. Both problems make each other worse and chaos ensues.

Overall I'd have to say this is film was okay. It was not my favorite nor was it awful. Would I recommend it? Sure, but not before quite a few others in this series. If you have a fear of plants though, it'll sure be a thriller.

Molotov Cocktease (The Venture Bros.) - Comic Con 2007

Molotov Cocktease
This was my modest/last minute costume choice for one of the days at Comic Con 2007. As you can tell by now, I'm a bit of a fan of those femme fatale, not quite good, not quite bad characters. (Catwoman, Huntress, Molotov, etc.) She's a fun character even if I was not great at the accent. If you have never watched the cartoon series The Venture Bros, I highly recommend it. That last photo is when I ran into a Brock Samson and a Dean Venture at the con. Also, in case you are wondering, yes that is Harry Potter I'm reading. It was the summer of 2007 after all.
