Found Favorites #11

After traveling, spending money is the last thing I want to do. That being said, here's some stuff I almost want to just impulse buy anyways...

These fishbone earrings are so cute! They would be perfect for a 'CATSBound' Bustopher Jones outfit. (If you know what I'm talking about, please comment!)

This tank top says it all really.

Ugggggg, why are these stickers so great?

Step one: go to Storenvy. Step two: search 'pizza' Step three: enjoy! (this croptop!)

Ok, so this was the first thing I ever 'envyed' on Storenvy. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's basically just tea (for people) made from catnip. I'm just so curious. Is it too perfect/really weird that me, cat-girl, is considering buying catnip to consume...? I don't know.

The Invisible Man | Science Fiction Double Feature

Today I review the 1933, The Invisible Man. It's based on an H.G. Wells novella of the same name from 1897. I really enjoyed this film but wish I had read the book. The film stars Claude Rains as Dr. Jack Griffin. He is a disembodied voice most of the time and you only get to see the actors actual face at the very end.

What I liked most about The Invisible Man was the special effects which were quite groundbreaking for it's time. One of the tricks used was filming Rains in a black velvet body suit against a black background with some of the clothing on, then layering the shot with one at the location. This gave him the the appearance of clothes on an invisible man. It reminds me of some techniques used in my favorite film, Labyrinth.

Flash Gordon | Science Fiction Double Feature

Episode two is now out from my 12 part series where I review the 11 films mentioned in the song Science Fiction Double Feature from the 1975 musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you'd like to watch along, this post lists all the films in the order I'll be watching them.

Today I review the 1936 series, Flash Gordon. Originally it was three serial films Flash Gordon, Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars, and Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe. I watched a few episodes of what was labeled as Flash Gordon, Space Soldiers. I really could not get too into it knowing how much content there is out there. I'm actually looking forward to perhaps watching the 1980 re-make film.

Off to NYC

PICT0036

Tomorrow I am headed off to New York City for a friend's wedding. I have a few friends who have moved there in the past few years so I'm excited to see them as well. This photo was from the last time I was in NYC, the summer of 2006. I'm in the process of finding all my old photographs from trips and vacations and getting them all on Flickr so the rest of the '06 photos will be up soon. I'm sure this trip I'll take a ton of photos and perhaps I'll compare the two.

Tomorrow the next edition of Science Fiction Double Feature is going up on this blog and the video will be up on YouTube. I hope everyone is enjoying the series as much as I am. Other than that I don't think I'll be posting any new things here till I'm back next week. Thanks for being such great readers and leaving me comments, it makes my day! If you follow me on Instagram you'll get my NYC updates first, if not I'll see you next week!

Found Favorites #10 - Geeky Modcloth Stuff

Found Favorites is back and this time with a theme! ModCloth just emailed me saying that they they have all this new home decor stuff. I checked it out and thare are some totally cute geeky decor that I totally want! Every thing I mention can be found here: ModCloth Retro & Cute Apartment Decor! What's great about ModCloth is though their clothing tends to be on the pricey side (but lovely), their home decor prices are pretty reasonable. Here's five geek worthy things I'd love to have at my place!

These TARDIS and Dalek salt and pepper shakers! I actually used to collect salt and pepper shakers when I was a kid. I don't have the collection anymore but man...this is making me want to start it again!

My friend has this game and we've played it once before. I actually thought I'd do better than I did! These geek questions are not all easy (I was a pro at the Lord of the Rings ones though.)

Oh my gosh. I can't decide if I'd take it out just for Halloween or keep this creepy through pillow out all year round.

I am SUCH a film and book geek, I love seeing them living together in harmony. (Doesn't always happen, heh.)

Any 'Twin Peeks' fans out there? It's a log pillow(!)

So yeah, take a look at the geeky, nerdy, (and maybe a little weird) stuff over at ModCloth. You know I wound not send you if I did not genuinely love their stuff! ;)
